Tashmarine is the newest gemstone of the 21st century. It is a clear faceted, medium intensity green gemstone. It ranges in hue from a bluish-green to a slightly yellowish-green, and is extremely free of inclusions. Because of these soft green tones Tashmarine enhances the cool shades of lavenders and blues, and blends well with yellows and oranges. It comes from the high mountains of central Asia. Its green is exactly as it comes from the earth and is not treated in any way. This too, makes it unique in much of the gemstone world today. Tash means stone in many of the Farsi based central Asian languages, with marine being ocean in Latin. Thus, Tashmarine means ocean colored stone.
